THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Dr K Malathi from Thirumala here has been selected for the Ashtangaratna Award instituted by the state government for life-long contribution to ayurveda. The Dhanwantari Award for all-round contribution to treatment and research in ayurveda has been bagged by Dr T N Yatheendran of Navaneetham Ayurveda Centre, Kollam.
While Dr A Manoj Kumar of Ayurveda Dispensary, Pulamanthol, Malappuram district, has been selected for the Charaka Award for the best doctor in the Indian systems of medicine, the Aathreya Award for the best ayurveda college teacher has been bagged by Dr C Raghunathan Nair of Kannur Government Ayurveda College.Dr V Sreekumar has been selected for the Vagbhada Award for the best doctor in the private sector.
The award consists of a plaque and cash prize of Rs 25,000 for Ashtangaratna Award and Rs 15,000 for other awards. Health Minister V S Sivakumar will distribute the awards on February 18.
