Indore: Giving tough competition to the premium beauty products segment, Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali Ayurveda is planning to start a manufacturing unit of beauty products here. Official sources said the Ayurveda giant has asked for around 40 acres of land at Pithampur.
Patanjali Ayurveda manufactures products in the categories of personal care and food. The company manufactures 444 products, including 45 types of cosmetics and 30 types of food items. “We are in talks with the Ayurveda giant and are hopeful that investment worth crores would be made. They are planning to expand in the beauty products sector and establish a manufacturing unit in Pithampur,” said Audhyogik Kendra Vikas Nigam (AKVN) MD Kumar Purushottam .
Last month, Patanjali managing director Acharya Balkrishna visited Hatod and Jaitpura (near Indore) to look for a land to set up a manufacturing unit. Sources said industry department officials would soon visit Haridwar office of Ramdev’s Patanjali Ayurveda to finalise the deal.
“The Ayurveda giant is planning to give tough competition to the big cosmetic firms spread across the country. The unit will not only popularise the herbal products, but also create employment opportunities for the locals. Things would be finalised right from cost of the land to project detail.” said an official.There are currently 12 successful units of Patanjali running across the country including units for packaging material and containers into manufacturing of flour mill, candy plant, herbal cosmetics, detergent plants, digestives unit, juice plant and many other units.
