ITANAGAR, 10 Feb: Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) Research Officer Dr Arvind Kumar on Thursday said that the AYUSH ministry aims to distribute Ayurveda prophylactic medicine in the state.

Addressing media person at the press club here, Kumar said that “the Ayurveda medicine is effective for Covid-19 treatment. Therefore, the CCRAS has launched a campaign to distribute Ayurveda prophylactic medicines in the state.”

He said that the campaign to distribute the free-of-cost medicine, which was started in September last year by the Ayurveda Regional Research Institute in Itanagar, is still continuing in government health centres in five districts of the state.

“Till date, more than 6,500 beneficiaries have been provided with medicines and guidelines. We also target to distribute 50,000 medicines in the state,” he said, adding that the government of India made it a free-of-cost medicine distribution campaign “after looking into the effectiveness of the medicine to overcome Covid-19.”

He said that those who have tested Covid-19 positive are being provided with the AYUSH medicine free of cost for 20 days. “Likewise,” he said, “immunity boosting plant saplings and consultations are also being provided free of cost.”

“Generally, there are no side effects of herbal medicines if taken after consultation from a doctor. But if consumed without consulting a qualified physician, it may cause negative symptoms,” he said.

Kumar informed that the campaign will continue till 15 August, 2023.
