Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush Shripad Yesso Naik has said in the Parliament that the Government of India has approved and notified National Ayush Mission.
NDA Government at the Centre took an innovating initiative soon after assuming office in May this year by setting up the Ministry of Ayush which is aimed at promoting age old and rich Indian methods for treatment of diseases.
In a written reply to Rajya Sabha, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush Shripad Yesso Naik stated on Tuesday that the Government of India has approved and notified National Ayush Mission (NAM) on 29.09.2014, which envisages better access to Ayush services including Ayurvedic system, strengthening of AYUSH educational institutions, facilitate the enforcement of quality control of Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani & Homoeopathy (ASU & H) drugs and sustainable availability of raw-materials for manufacture of ASU & H drugs in the States/UTs during 12th Plan.
“The co-location of AYUSH facilities at Primary Health Centres (PHCs), Community Health Centres (CHCs) & District Hospitals (DHs) and up gradation of exclusive AYUSH Hospitals, including Yoga & Naturopathy facilities are included in the AYUSH Services component of NAM. The State/UT Governments are required to forward their State Annual Action Plan (SAAP) for seeking grant-in-aid for this purpose,” the Minister said.
Under flexible components of National Ayush Mission, a provision has also been kept for AYUSH Wellness Centres, including Yoga & Naturopathy Centres.
Besides, the Government has established 5 Central Research Councils, including one each for Ayurveda and Yoga & Naturopathy, which have a network of institutions for carrying out research and some of these also extend healthcare services. The Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences has 30 peripheral institutes, 24 of which extend healthcare services. The Central Council for Research in Yoga & Naturopathy is presently having one Research Institute and two more such institutes are under development.
In a major development, the Government has proposed to set up Industrial Machine Tool Park in the country.
A Scheme on Enhancement of competitiveness in the Indian Capital Goods Sector has been notified by the Department of Heavy Industry in the Gazette of India on 5.11.2014. One of the components of the Scheme is setting up of “Integrated Industrial Infrastructure Facility” with the objective of making the machine tool sector more competitive by providing an ecosystem for production.
The Government has identified the location for setting up of the proposed Park in the country. Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju in a written reply to Lok Sabha on Tuesday said that the primary responsibility of rescue, relief and rehabilitation in the wake of natural disaster rests with the States. The State Government of Jammu and Kashmir with the support from the Central Government is taking rehabilitation measures for flood affected people.
“The State Government of J&K has started the rehabilitation measures in the wake of the recent floods. There was a balance of Rs. 1105.60 crore in the State disaster Response Fund of Jammu & Kashmir for meeting the rescue and relief works. In order to support the affected people of Jammu & Kashmir, the Government of India has released an amount of Rs. 94.33 crore, in advance, from SDRF on 5-11-2014. Besides, the Government of India has released Rs. 1000 crore under Special Plan Assistance (SPA) on 22.10.2014 to the State for flood relief and rehabilitation,” the Minister said.
He also clarified that the State Government has so far not received any funds from International Bodies.
