PM to inaugurate Vision Conclave on February 2
City has geared up to host the third edition of the five-day Global Ayurveda Festival (GAF). The festival billed as the biggest biennial get-together of Ayurveda fraternity will be held at the Swapna Nagiri on the Kozhikode Mini Bypass from January 31 to February 4, reception committee chairman M.K. Raghavan, MP , convener A. Pradeepkumar, MLA and Dr. P. Madhavankutty Varier, organising committee chairman told a news conference here on Wednesday.
The organisers said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Vision Conclave at 11 a.m. on February 2. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will officially inaugurate the GAF and the Arogya at 5 p.m. on January 31.
About 5,000 delegates including 400 from 35 foreign countries will take part in the event. Around 500 firms will exhibit their products at the stalls. Leader of the Opposition V.S.Achuthanandan will inaugurate the exhibition.
Minister of State for AYUSH Shripad Yesso Naik and the Sri Lankan Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Rajitha Senarathne will take part in various activities. About 500 papers will be presented by scientists and Ayurveda enthusiasts. Practitioners and students, manufacturers, hospitals, medical plant growers, government and non-government agencies, service organisations, and civil society organisations are part of the programme. The GAF is being organised by the Ayurveda Medical Association of India and the Centre for Innovation in Science and Social Action in association with the State government, Department of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH), Ayurvedic Medicine Manufacturers Organisations of India, Ayurveda Drug Manufactures Association and Kerala State Indian Systems of Medicine of Medicine Self Financing Management Association, State Department of AYUSH, Department of Tourism and Department of Industry.
