NAGPUR: While speaking at the golden jubilee celebration fuction of Ayurvedic College, Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis assured that the state government would favourably consider the issue of setting up an Ayurvedic University in the state.
The format of the university however could be decided upon — whether or not would it be a fully government-run university or could be set up with support from those working in the field of ayurveda.
There is a strong emerging need for the research in the field of ayurveda as the science is gradually being accepted the world over. There are also certain diseases or conditions in which ayurvedic medicines give better results as compared to allopathic medicines.
In Vidarbha, districts like Gadchiroli are rich in various plant species used for manufacturing ayurvedic medicines. Baidyanath group chairman Suresh Sharma has already taken lead in ayurvedic medicines.
“When United Nations can make the world celebrate International Yoga Day, why can’t we Indians promote our own science of ayurveda,” the CM said.
