Health Minister V S Sivakumar has said 38 new ayurveda dispensaries will be started in the state during this fiscal.
He was speaking after inaugurating various healthcare projects such as ‘Drushti’(for treating myopia or short-sight in children), ‘Jeevani’(for diabetic persons), ‘Punarnava’ (for paralysed persons) ‘Hruthu’ (for adolescent girls) ‘Prasadam’(for school children) and ‘Kaumara Staoulyam’(for obese children) in Thrissur on Saturday.
As many as 48 ayurveda dispensaries have already been started in the state and more than 1,500 new vacancies have been created in the Health Department as part of this, he said.
The minister said that the AYUSH centres that provide ayurveda, yoga, naturopathy, unani, siddha and homeopathy disciplines under one roof would soon be launched in the state.
The `10-lakh worth ‘Drushti’ project will be implemented at the Ramavarama District Hospital and Irinjalakuda Government Ayurveda Hospital while ‘Jeevani’ will be implemented in Thiruvananthapuram, Neyyattinkara, Kollam and Ernakulam Ayurveda Hospitals at a cost of `20 lakh.
The `10-lakh worth ‘Punarnava’ project will be implemented at Kozhikode and Kottayam District Ayurveda Hospitals and ‘Hrithu’ will be implemented at a cost of `40 lakh in Kollam and Malappuram districts.
‘Prasadam’ will be implemented at a cost of `20 lakh in Kasaragode and Idukki districts and `5 lakh worth project ‘Kaumara Staoulyam’ will be implemented in Thriruvananthapuram district.
`4 Crore for Sports Hospital The state government will sanction `4 crore for the sports hospital to being constructed in Thrissur for providing world class treatment for sports-persons, the minister said after attending a function at the Ramavarma District Ayurveda Hospital.
